Mary is a member here at the ranch.  She ask me to shar this with you.

Mary: If it helps one person then I will be bless.

Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues, July 8, 2013

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter to announce my medical leave of absence. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be in surgery this coming Thursday with treatments following soon after. After over 20 years of employment here at St. Mary’s Hospital you all have become a part of my daily life. My family and I are trying to cope with this as best as possible and as positive as possible. We don’t always understand why things happen the way they do but we have our faith and believe in the one who does know all. My dear friends, family and colleagues I encourage each of you to get your routine checkups if you don’t already do so. I want to say thank you to each of you for your support and ask that you would please keep me and my family in your prayers. I also want to say a special thank you to St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Sandra L. Mondro, Dr. Sandra Sanchez & Dr. Lisa Sanchez and their staff for their professional care and attention. Below is a picture of me in the walkathon “Race for the Cure” as a supporter and now I will walk as a survivor. I am grateful and thankful for every one of you in my life and my God bless you with wisdom and understanding of His faithfulness!

Your friend,
Mary

BTW - Mary is the lady in the middle.

If any one wishes to send Mary a card please get with me & I'll send you her address.

I got this e-mail today.....

I want to extend the biggest thank you. Your prayers and encouragement are truly sustaining me and my family at this time. The surgery went as planned and we are still waiting on the final test results to see if I am cancer free. So far I know I will need radiation but the results tomorrow will determine whether or not I will need chemo. God willing I will not. Please continue to pray as I will continue to keep you updated on each victory and trial as they come and go. Again I thank you and ask that the Lord would grant each of you with His wisdom and a better understanding of just how big He truly is. May you be blessed in health and prosperity as we walk this journey of life. To Him be the glory!

I will keep you guys posted on Mary's condition as I hear from her/family.

My thoughts & prayers are with you Mary & your family!  Take care my friend!

Mary,

We don't know what the future holds for us, but, I do know that there is a reason for everything that happens to us; whether it is good or bad, the Lord has a plan for us.

I’m thankful that your surgery went well; I hope and pray that you will not need chemo.

Thank you for allowing your story to be posted. You have many friends here at the McCain Ranch Forum, and I want you to know that my heart goes out to you. I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers.

Your McCain Ranch Forum friend,

Judy

Please keep Mary in prayer.

I just got an updat from Mary on her condition.....

Thank you all so much for your continued support and encouragement during this time in my life. I wanted to keep everyone posted as promised. The results came in yesterday and they found a tiny spot of cancer remaining  so I am scheduled to go into surgery again this Friday by the grace of God to have the margins cleared. Our God is answering and hearing your prayers as this is a miracle in itself that they would see a spot the size of a pin needle of cancer. He is showing His glory! Please be encouraged my dear friends and family and know that I am in God’s almighty hands and there is no place I would rather be. I will be OK and I believe in His complete healing over me.  I will keep everyone posted and will let you all know my results after surgery. I am overwhelmed by the amount of love you all are showing and pouring out on me and can’t thank you enough. God bless you all!

Mary, thanks for sharing your troubles and triumphs with us.  I can truly empathize with you.   I have been thru four surgeries, chemo, and radiation as a result of having a sarcoma tumor in my thigh.  It was not fun, but my Lord Jesus got me thru it with a lot of prayer and wonderful doctors.  Also, I had a lot of support from my family and church family.  I know you are scared but God is faithful.  My verses to cling to were Isaiah 41:10 and Psalms 118:17-18. Please keep us posted and keep the faith.  I am a nine year survivor and I expect to see you post that same thing one day.  May God bless you.  Hugs.

Mary, I want to share with you that three years ago my sister was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She had surgery, chemo and radiation.

On this past Sunday July 14th I took her to see Paul McCartney and his band perform, a lifetime event that I hoped and prayed she would live to see - and she did! So keep a positive attitude and we'll keep you in our prayers. You can beat this thing - my sister is showing as cancer-free now.

Update July 24, 2013

Dearest loved ones, Again I want to express my gratitude towards each of you and say that your prayers are truly sustaining me and my family during this time. The updates I have so far are that my surgery this past Friday was successful and I am recovering gracefully. The margins have been cleared  and I am still waiting on the results from the oncologists as to which direction I will be taking in regards to treatment. I will continue updating as I am made aware. In the meantime I ask that God would continue to show His glory in this situation and time in my life and yours. May He continue to reveal Himself to each of you in new and real way and may He become more in each of your lives. Our lives are but a glimpse so let’s make the most of the opportunities that He has given us here on earth. To Him be the glory in my life and yours. Psalm 3:3 “But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”

                                                              God Bless  Mary

Another update from Mary.....

Dearest loved ones, Thank you for your continued support. Updates are as follows: I will be starting Chemo this Friday the 2nd prior to radiation treatments. All treatments should be over by December, God willing. I have been reading a lot of psalms and psalm 91 being favored at this time. God has reminded me that faith is not a feeling. Faith is simply choosing to believe what He says in His word. The more I choose to believe God’s word, the more I know that I can trust and rely on Him completely. No matter what disease we might be facing the promise never ceases to be true. The enemy may try to catch us unaware and knocks us down with sudden surprises but God is faithful. His word is true no matter what the circumstances look like. Be encouraged and stay strong in faith. Your prayers are truly being felt and have been effective. I have peace and am excited to see God move. Please pray for my strength to continue to be increased. Thank you again and may God bless you all.

A message from Mary O.

Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of months ago. My family and I are trying to cope with this as best as possible and as positive as possible. I have been through 2 chemo treatments already and by the grace of God am doing well. My dear friends, family and colleagues I encourage each of you to get your routine checkups if you don’t already do so. I want to say thank you to each of you for your support and ask that you would please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. The out pouring of support that I have received so far has been amazing. A true reflection of God’s hand at work through each of your letters, cards, words of encouragement, dinners and embraces. Please if there is anyone that needs a hug or just a word of encouragement, I want you to know that I am here willing and wanting to embrace and encourage you so that you too can know how important it is that we stand with each other. My faith has increased tremendously during this time and I feel so spoiled with the amount of prayer and encouragement I have received. Life is precious and in this time I have realized the most important thing in my life is my faith in Jesus Christ. It’s not about me and it never was, it’s all about showing His love.

John 15:13
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Update from Mary.....

Greetings family and friends. I would like to say thank you so much for all of your prayers, support and the love that each of you have poured out onto myself and those I love. Today was my last day of Chemo treatment and everything went well. I am home resting by the grace of God. The doctor asked me today "Mary, where do you get your strength?". I was reminded of Peter walking on water in Matthew 14. Peter's focus was on Jesus and it allowed him to walk on water. As long as I keep my focus on the Lord, He gives me strength. My strength comes from the one who gives freely to all who will receive. I don't understand why things happen the way they do but I am so grateful that God has used me to give glory to His name. He is everything and is sustaining me. May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you all and show Himself to you in more and more ways. With love and humble adoration!

Jesus Walks on the Water
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. 25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

*Mary had sent me a picture to post but the postimage here at the ranch is down.  I will post this when it becomes available.

I am going to update you below on my progress and how I am doing for you to share with all the wonderful people that have been praying and uplifting me along this journey. A special thanks to Judy, Ava, Gloria and "the iron horse" for there comments and words.

Update is as follows: I am in radiation therapy-currently on treatment #21 of #34. I would appreciate your continued prayers as I am currently still working full-time and have been feeling very exhausted all the time. I need strength!! I believe that I have been healed and am cancer free and in time the test will show what my heart already knows. I encourage each of you to get your routine checkups if you don’t already do so. As I reflect on these past few months – I am overwhelmed with emotion by the amount of love that each person has extended to me. In the bible it says that you will know them by their fruit and that the fruits of the spirit are Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control. God has shown me who He is through each of you that are reading this. I have always been a woman of faith but what I lacked was the ability to see people the way God sees them. He has shown me the beauty in each of you by your touch, smiles, the way you look at me, helping hands, prayers, phone calls, emails, messages from the McCain Ranch, dinners and time. Life is precious and it is truly a gift from God. What we do with our time and how we love on each other is the greatest gift that we can give back. If any of you ever need anything – please know that I am here for you. I am forever grateful for this experience and pray that anyone else who is experiencing this will be encouraged to look at the bigger picture.

With love and gratitude,

His faithful servant Mary O.

Mary, I am so happy to hear that you are continuing to improve and that you feel you are healed.  Hang in there with the radiation.  God is still in the miracle business.  I know from personal experience.  Hugs.

Greetings to the McCain Ranch

Update; Radiation is done! Thank you Lord! Over all I am doing very well and am in good cheer. I am having surgery (nothing to do with cancer) on the 19th of December and would be very appreciative of the continued prayers. Thank you all so much for your support and please know how grateful and thankful I am for each of you. May God bless you with a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year and may you be successful in all that you do. May the peace of the Lord be with you all.

With love always,
Mary O.

Good to hear and hope you continue to be blessed.  My mother had her ovaries removed as well as a double mastectomy several years ago, now has lymph node cancer, is doing well with monthly chemo.  Will tell her about your success and keep you in our thoughts.

Hi Margie, Thanks again for keeping me in prayer and The McCain Ranch Family . I wanted to give you a quick update on how I am doing. I have recovered from surgery, returned to work and am doing remarkably well. I am very thankful that I have had enough strength to be able to still enjoy the holidays with my family. I have attached a picture of myself and my husband at a celebrating from his work that was last week Friday and I did not wear a hat for the second time, all I can say to him be the glory my heavenly father!

Thank you again for praying for me and my family.

God's rich blessings to you all,

1 Chronicles 29:11-13

"Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.

Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.

Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name."

Update on Mary O.,

HI Margie and fellow McCain Ranch friends,

First, I want to start off with telling you that I am doing well. I would like to encourage all rifleman fans to keep up their yearly physicals, especially mammogram and prostate exams including PSA blood testing for the men. Since I have been diagnosed with breast cancer I have been speaking to my co-workers and church friends on the importance of these tests and how early detection plays a key role in treatment.   I  spoke at a gathering with another breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed at a early age with cancer. While I was speaking with this woman another woman approached and ask me if I could talk with her privately. We went aside and she confided in me that she had found a lump in her breast.  I told her to go get a mammogram, and it was confirmed that she had a growth. She went forward with having breast biopsied, and we are still waiting for the results of the findings.    So here is my question to my friends at the ranch--how many of you have been keeping up with your exams and annual testing?

I also have some exciting news that I would like to share with y'all! I have been asked to be a model for the 2014 Pink Strydes Fashion Show in Palm Beach this October.Pink Strydes is a nonprofit organization founded by a fellow breast cancer survivor who did not let her battle stop her dream of making women look and feel beautiful. The organization also raises money for breast cancer awareness in local communities and supports women battling the illness. I look forward to participating with their efforts, and being a model for the very first time.

You are all in my prayers, as I hope I continue to be in yours. May our Lord continue to bless and keep you. "I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith." Romans 1:11-12

Sincerely yours,

Mary Robles

Mary, I am so excited to hear that you are doing well.  Congratulations on being chosen as a model - also for sharing your story with others.  As a cancer survivor, I would also like to encourage everyone to get yearly testing.  Cancer is a mean, wicked disease and doesn't care who it attacks.  If anyone finds the least suspicious thing, please get it checked out.  Mine started as a knot that popped up on my leg.  Every doctor I went to said it was only a cyst.  Only by my insistence that they remove it was it found to be a sarcoma cancer.  Don't take the doctor's word, MAKE them check it.  You'll be glad.  If it is nothing, you can stop worrying - if it's something, you can get it taken care of.  Remember, the earlier cancer is detected, the better chance of survival.

New updat on Mary as of January 15, 2015

Sorry for not getting back to you for a long time. I had my second treatment and currently am cancer free. I've been very busy doing various activities. There are some photos attached to this email:

The first photo was me when I walked for the American Breast Cancer Awareness walk. I did it in October in 2014.

The second is a fashion show for breast cancer awareness.

The third was when I gave a talk when I first was feeling well enough.

The fourth is at the airport waiting for my son Matthew when he returned from the Peace Corps who came for this Christmas.

The last was in November when the whole surgical services supported me for breast cancer awareness.

I'm going to be a Grandmother! Picture #6. It's Sarah at her baby shower. She's due at the end of February.

My son brought back some pictures of where he's from. He teaches at a school. His classroom is in picture 3.

The other pictures are taken when he was visiting different parts of the country of Namibia.

Is there anything you would like me to ask Matthew about Africa?
If so please post your questions here & I will see Mary/Matthew gets them.

I know it has been some time since my last update so I felt compelled to follow up with a reminder of how good God is. During the past four years God has impressed upon my heart the importance of focusing and looking to Jesus. I am reminded of Jesus’ disciple Peter, on the night Jesus walked on water and instructed Peter to come to Him. Peter and the disciples were afraid at first because they didn’t realize it was Jesus until he assured them “Take courage! It is I. don’t be afraid”. Peter then tells Jesus “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water”. Jesus say’s to Peter “come”. As Peter comes out of the boat, looking at Jesus, he begins to walk on the water. But then he hears the wind and begins to fear and sinks.
As I reflect back on the time when I first found out I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer – I remember the fear that crept in, trying to take hold of me. I feared I would not see my children marry, I won’t see my grandchildren born or even know how many I would have, my husband would be alone and I won’t see so many of my prayers fulfilled. Just as Peter feared when he turned his attention away from Jesus, so was I when only focusing on my circumstance. I turned my worries to prayers and my fear to a fearlessness in Christ. God is my healer and the author of my life.  My focus stays on Jesus that I may walk on the trials that come my way.
My son returned safely from Africa in September of 2015. He enlisted in the Army last year and is now stationed in Arkansas. I have since have had the blessing of a few more grandbabies and still in prayer for a Godly spouse for my unwed children. God is good and He has sustained me through this whole time. He continues to overwhelm my heart with love, peace and joy.
Thank you to everyone that was in prayer for me and my family. It has sustained us all and continues to. I pray that God would reveal Himself to each of you in more tangible and real ways as He so has done for me. God bless!!

Mary it is so nice to hear from you after all this time. I think of you often and wonder how you are doing.

I hope that other will find their strength in God as you have. This is a blessing in itself.

Please take care.
