Hi guys ,not sure if this is the correct  place to add what we do in the UK with regards to keeping the west alive ,but moderators please feel free to move it if need be .
ok iam your british cousin living here in the UK and part of a very large western association called the Lonestar ,we re-enact both factual and fictional western events as a way of enjoyment and entertainment .
also we hold round-ups at events where we do the living history side and  live as close as we can to the westener ,our camps and chuck wagons faithfully represent a bygone age which we have all come to love .
the Lonestar old west association currently has about a 160 western re-enactors making it the largest in the UK ,our members come from all walks of life who grew up with clint anf big john etc and not forgetting our childhood heros such as the lone ranger and casey jones .
many of our guys go to great lenghts to preserve this wonderfull herritge but keeping the fun and enjoyment factor there too .
i shall forward pics of the lonestar group at events to be posted and keep you all informed from time to time of the Lonestar westeners.,the film and tv western has inspired so many of us to re-enact scenes and storys and educate ourselves and the public too .

Thank you big wyatt for sharing this with us!

I love re-enactments!  They are so neat!

A big thank you goes to you & the Lonestar Old West Association for preserving this wonderful hertiage.

I bet this is a lot of fun and very rewarding!  We need to preserve the old west.  I bet it feels neat being a part of this!

obliged to Cowgirl for re-sizing and posting the pics and thankyou all for the kind commets ,il certainly post more and keep you all informed on our events and western shows .
the lonestar as you can see covers the native americans and 7th cav as well as cowboys and gunfighters ,we cover the period from 1865 up to 1895 .
the event in the pictures is the American western motor homes show where  RVs ,cars and camper vans travel for an all American week of country music western reenactments and living history .
we have about 20,000 people there for this event ,the chuck wagon parks up and our cook gets to making beef jerky boiling the coffe and preparing son of a bitch stew .
the event is held every august in the beautiful settings of the malvern hills ,the lonestar has its own area where we set up all our tents and wagons and put on shootouts for the public .
its quite romantic in a strange sought ofway when we are all sat around the camp fires of a night time with chuck wagons, tipi,s and period tents in the back ground , yes give me the wild west any day .

This is really great stuff!

Do you Cowboys ever do the re-enactment of Gettysburg in the UK.  We have a lot of re-enactors in our area & I know they have done Gettysburg just about every year.

Are you in any of these pictures?  Or are you just the picture taker?

Who do you usually impersonate?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Cowgirl ,yes our American civil war groups re-enact famous battles like gettysburg although they are seperete from the western re-enactment groups .
me take pictres no never lol iam in the 7th and 8th pic dressed in black with microphone in hand as before a shootout can take place i exsplain
a basic storyline to the public and go through some saftey aspects .
all our re-enactors take on various charicters to what ever the scrip requires although we have our favourites i try to impersinate wyatt earp
when acting out the ok corral .

cheers wyatt

Wyatt, thanks so much for sharing.  The pictures are all fantastic.  It looks like you are having so much fun 'living' in the Old West.

I have two sisters:  one belongs to the SCA and spends her free time sword fighting and making period costumes; the other loves to re-enact the 1700's as Trappers and Fur Traders.  But, give me the 'Old West' anytime...my favorite era too!  Thanks again.

hi Cowgirl , ive only done wyatt from a factual point of view as most our sketches are fictional so we make up the good and bad guys charicter roles .
normally i play the bad guy heh heh ,well its more interesting playing the outlaw role and to see the lonestar guys then go to our webb site  at .
www.thelonestar.co.uk   for our short movie then scroll down the menu to where it says LS history and  films click on that and scroll down again to where it says the preacher.
thats the short movie we made so click on that to see it,its only about 10 mins long still it took us 4 days to film it.
in it i play the preacher a gothic gunfighter ,which is in my avatar pic .

cheers wyatt

I did get in, thanks Chris & wyatt!

Great video!  Although I would love to be sitting there at the campfire, especially in the evening, I really like sleeping in my own bed.

Seriously I think this looks like fun and I certainly would love to participate in something like this.

Thanks wyatt!

Looks like a lot of fun. I used to do civil war reenactments. I was in the 2nd North Carolina Infantry. I'm not far from Gettysburg, so I got to be involved with some there. It was fun, but it was also demanding on my time and eventually my body, so I decided to hang it up. I had a lot of great times though and plenty of nice memories..

thanks glad you folks enjoyed looking over the webb site ,in the gallery thread you do get a white blank screen so youll need to click on the corner of it where it says  view all   which will open up another window and you can view pics of the events .
the preacher short movie you should still be able to see it by going onto history and films thead and clicking on the picture at the bottom ,hope you can manage to get to it .

Wyatt,
I can view the gallery images just fine, but when I go to history and films and scroll down, all I get at the bottom - after I pass the text and title 'The Preacher' - is a big black square with no image within it - just a tiny square with three colored dots - in the upper left corner of the big black square.  Nowhere around or within the big black square is there any active area to click on (i.e. no 'hand', only a cursor).  Very frustrating, because I really wanted to see the video....how much would it cost to order the movie on DVD?
